Our 1st night in Korea

When we booked the air tickets to Korea, we happily thought that the flight timing was good for us as the flight would depart from Singapore at 1.50 pm. However, with one hour transit in Taiwan, we would reach Incheon International Airport at 10.50 pm. The last train to Seoul city departs at 11.20 pm.

Our Korea friend, Fat Boy had told us we might not be able to catch the last train to Seoul City and had explored a few options with us. He would fetch us from Incheon Airport at 10.50 pm and we would all go to a Korean sauna, “jjiljimbang” and sleep for the night. It just cost SGD 8 per person to wash and sleep in a sauna. If not, we can stay overnight at the airport and wait for the first train at 6 am.

Just days before we depart, Sean was also in contact with his Mongolian friend who is staying in Korea. In her last email, she said that she will pick us up from the airport. So, on the day before we depart, we told Fat Boy not to go to the airport to pick us up as Sean’s friend will pick us up.

On 6 Mar 2015, our flight from Singapore was delayed for 30 minutes, and we arrived at Incheon Airport at 11.50 pm. We did not see Sean’s friend at the arrival hall. Luckily there was wifi at the airport and we checked our email to realize that her husband is unable to go to the airport to pick us due to his work.

Taking a cab from Incheon to Seoul will take 1 hour and it is very expensive. So, we decided to spend our first night at Incheon Airport. We found a bench at on the 3rd level departure hall, in front of Asiana Airline. We told Yiken that we were going to sleep in the airport “hotel”. He smiled and we laughed. Kids are so innocent. It was 2.30 am when we settled down. We were so tired as we did not sleep the night before due to our massive packing. We just slept in our sleeping bags on the airport bench until the next morning. When we woke the next morning, the departure hall was really busy but we did not care whether we are unglam or not, guess that is the privilege for being out of Singapore.

Our sleeping bags were very useful indeed.

Besides being able to poo anywhere, we are glad that Yiken is able to sleep anywhere as well.

Yixi is also able to sleep anywhere as long as she can latch to sleep.
